The Battle of Shiloh
The battle of Shiloh was a very bloody battle near the start of the war. It took place at Pittsburg Landing, Tennessee, that is why this battle was also called the Battle of Pittsburg Landing. The Union and Confederates fought here for 2 days and it was a horrible fight, it was very bloody. 23,746 people died on those two days, and at the time it was the bloodiest in American history. The Union came out on top after losing 13,047. This was a big lose for the Confederacy. 110,053 people fought on this day, many of them had little to no fighting experience. The Union was led by Ulysses S. Grant, and the Confederates were led by Albert Sidney Johnston. Grant showed up late to this battle but when he did he took control and ended up winning the battle in the favor of the Union. People have also said that this was a turning point in the war. There are many myths about the battle of Shiloh maybe because how it was reported or maybe people just didn't understand it fully.
